Resilience
To me, Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulty and change, without ever giving up. It can be seen everywhere from in humans to in nature, and I think that my image is a great representation of Resilience. It depicts a weed growing through a crack in some steps, and represents Resilience because it shows something trying to grow, survive and flower in harsh conditions, without dying or giving up.

Multiple layers of the human spirit pervade all aspects of the Paralympic movement. Elite athletes from all over the globe gather together to underline the abilities of those that society often excludes and views as different. Perceptions are broken, spirits are lifted and we see that triumph is everywhere: from blind long jumpers to the wheelchair athletes, and from the multiple layers of support and officials to the unsung coaches. The Paralympics are a pinnacle of human endeavour and sacrifice.
'It is nearly impossible not to get completely absorbed in the sport on show, but when you realise that these people are often battling serious health problems or missing limb, their achievement becomes all the more remarkable' - Simon Way.
